Seminar for students of the fourth stage - Aircraft Engineering Branch

Under the patronage of the Honorable President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ghaban, and under the supervision of the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, the respected Professor Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, the Department’s Psychological Supervision and Educational Guidance Unit launched its awareness seminar for students of the fourth stage - Aircraft Engineering Branch. The seminar was delivered by the Iraqi pilot and athlete (Farid Lafta) in Dr. Munir Al-Muzaffar Hall at 10:30 AM on Sunday, 3/24/2024 and was entitled (success story). The seminar dealt with combating negative behaviors in society and methods for treating them, questions and inquiries were raised by the department’s students. The seminar concluded with the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, presenting a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer, expressing his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by him.

 

 

Seminar entitled (The Phenomenon of Harassment of Women, its Causes, and Ways to Address it) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ghaban, and under the supervision of the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Mohsen Hamza Nouri, and within the cultural and scientific activity of the department and in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit and the Division of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance - Office of the University President, the department organized an awareness seminar on (The Phenomenon of Harassment of Women, its Causes, and Ways to Address it) delivered by Professor Haneen Rashid Majeed in the presence of faculty members in the department and university and its employees in Dr. Munir Al-Muzaffar Hall.

The lecturer clarified the definition of harassment as aggressive behavior carried out by a person who intends to attack the dignity and freedom of the victim woman without her consent, and touched on the phenomenon of online harassment, which began to spread through Social media since the internet’s emergence, including Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter...etc. As for the law, the Iraqi legislator did not gave a specific definition for harassment in light of the effective amended Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, but allocated articles (400-401-402) to it under the name (crimes against modesty), setting penalties of up to three or six months’ imprisonment or for a period not exceeding one year or a small financial fine if the assault was verbal, and the penalty in the case of sexual assault under the first paragraph of Article 393 is aggravated by life or temporary imprisonment for anyone who has intercourse with a woman without her consent, and it is an aggravating circumstance if the victim is under eighteen years of age or if the perpetrator is an employee or person in charge of public service, clergy, or doctors. The seminar concluded with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation for the lecturer by Professor Dr. Mohsen Nouri, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, in appreciation of her efforts.

 

 

A Tree-planting Campaign

throughout honor of His Excellency Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani's National Tree Planting Day, the Department of Mechanical Engineering coordinated a campaign to plant trees throughout the department's gardens and corridors. Participating in the campaign were the department's instructors and staff, as well as Professor Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza, the head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, and his administrative and scientific assistants. This campaign emphasizes the importance of preserving the environment and green spaces, as March 12 of each year is considered a day of national afforestation with the aim of increasing the area of green spaces and enhancing the health and cleanliness of the environment, as it is one of the factors for the health of society in general, and the health of the family in particular. The campaign participants called for everyone to be a supporter of sustainable development and the environment, and to contribute to afforestation and cleaning, considering that the tree has a generous spirit that leads us to an integrated green society. The need to enhance environmental awareness and instill the values of environmental preservation in the hearts of new generations was also emphasized, to ensure a greener and more sustainable future.

 

 

 

A workshop entitled “Introducing Underground Energy Technology”

Joining forces with the Center for Energy Technology and Renewable Energies, the Mechanical Engineering Department organized a workshop on Wednesday called "Introducing Underground Energy Technology," with the support of the Honorable President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ghabban, and under the supervision of Honorable Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza on March 13, 2024. The executive director of Aspactec Engineering Company, Dr. Salah Al-Ansari, delivered the workshop lecture. The significance of underground energy as a clean, renewable energy source was the workshop's main topic. The heat that rises from the earth and may be used to heat buildings produce electricity, heat water, and for other purposes is known as ground energy. It is a renewable energy source. Ground energy is characterized by low greenhouse gas emissions and does not depend on fossil fuels, making it a sustainable and environmentally friendly option. The workshop also addressed the role of this energy in achieving sustainable development by caring for the environment, not destroying it, and using environmentally friendly materials that contribute to preserving it for future generations. The workshop was attended by faculty members in the department and university, where relevant topics were discussed extensively and the vital and promising discussion about this field was enriched.

 

 

An educational seminar titled "Young People's Risks from Illegal Immigration"

An educational seminar entitled "Young People's Risks from Illegal Immigration" was held in the Mechanical Engineering Department, Dr. Munir Al-Muzaffar Hall, at 10 AM. Dr. Safaa Ahmed, Director General of the Department of Displaced Persons in The Ministry, gave the keynote address. The seminar was held under the auspices of Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ghaban, President of the University of Technology, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Immigration and Displacement. The purpose of this symposium is to carry out the directives provided by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in collaboration with the Ministry of Immigration and Displacement, as part of the media strategy to lower the dangers associated with youth immigration. A number of university staff members, instructors, and students were there. The lecturer touched on the concept of illegal immigration, the laws that limit it, its causes, its great risks, and the negative effects on the lives of illegal immigrants that have become a threat to the security and safety of countries. The symposium concluded by distributing brochures that included combating illegal immigration to the attendees and by asking and discussing questions that enriched the topic. For his part, Professor Dr. Mohsen Nouri Hamza thanked those in charge of this workshop, after which he presented a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer for his distinguished efforts and the valuable information he provided.
